My text portrait is Harley Quinn, I decided to do her because she’s my favorite DC character. The image I choose of her is from the movie Suicide Squad. I used multiple words to show the values in her. The words are used were ha, sad, love, crazy, clown, crime, bang, felon, Joker, Quinn, bold, hurt, cry, pretty, Harley, brave, puddin, and wild. The reason I used these words was that they described Harley. The lettering style I choose was lettering that you see in the Suicide Squad movie it’s blocky and is just crazy and it just reminds me of Harley. I then put it into the computer and added a red to blue gradient. Then in the background, I added Harley’s symbol that was shown in the movie. The hardest part of this project was trying to write smaller since the image I used was small. The thing I wish I did better on would be Harley’s face it was hard to add the value there. Everywhere else though turned out really good. I did well with adding texture to Harley’s jacket.

To help me prepare for this project I practiced doing different hand lettering styles. Then I drew out a value scale with hand lettering with the word ha. Lastly, I drew a shoe and practiced doing hand lettering and values with the word cat.
